Pull Your Pistol

Freak of the Week
This six stringer is a six shooter. Colt Peacemaker, designed by Jim Cairnes. This English made Star guitar has Cairnes pickups, & ebony fretboard. The trigger is the volume, & the hammer selects the pickups. The cartridge ejector rod is a push/pull tone control. Currently on display at the American Guitar Museum in New York.

  1. I haven't had the pleasure of playing this one yet, but will certainly "pull the trigger" as the opportunity presents itself.

  4. Hi do you know Joe Walsh, and if you could get a picture of him holding it I would like to see it as it was my dad that designed and built the Colt Peacemaker. If you have any other info or pictures I would like to see them. Unfortunately my dad passed away in May this year.

  6. Hi Marvin. I'm very sorry to hear about your father. I'm certain tha Jim was a great man, & my condolences go out to you & your family. I don't believe that a picture exists of Joe with this guitar, as I've never seen it on stage with him. His guitar collection nubers in the several hundreds, & this is most likely cased and tucked safely away in Joe's archives. I sent Joe a message today & suggested he get a picture for us. Cross your fingers.

  7. Thank you for your kind words. After my dad passed away my brother and I went through his workshop to clear out any bits and bobs and came across a Colt body it was sprayed but had no other parts with it, we also found a neck which was only just started but was not intended for the body of the Colt. To cut a long story short I had all the brass wear cast, polished the body, wound two pickups and wired it all and with the help and guidence of Mark Bailey of Bailey Guitars I finished the neck and put it together. I have a few pictures of the Colt and will send them to you if you send me your email address.
