1959 Gibson EMS-1235

Freak of the Week
The title says it all. Six-string mandolin on the top. Full scale guitar with factory trem on the bottom. These showpieces were not played & abused to the extent that a typical Les Paul of the era was.

  1. Quite to the contrary...these guitars were played A lot!

    They were custom order only and the overwhelming number were purchased by serious musicians.

  2. Yes, custom order, & nearly always by serious players & collectors. I believe that if you were to compare the playwear on any one of these gems to that on the average Les Paul from the same era you'd most certainly find the Les Paul to have thousands of hours more playing time & wear.
