This ORR That

Thanks to ROCKFIST's Kenner Siegrist for this week's feature photo.  A very unique sounding one of a kind hand made bass by Charles Orr. Kenner.is a very fortunate fellow to have this bass in his collection. You can track down the owner of this fine bass at a local TC performance near you, & ask Kenner about this axe.

  1. I'm the current owner of the charles orr bass in the picture (or one that looks just like it). I bought it on ebay a few years ago. I think this may be the only 34" scale, fretted bass that charles orr made. I read on the internet that he only made a few basses and the others i've seen pictures of are short scale and/or frettless. The quality of the materials and the workmanship are excellent. The neck is unusual. It's thin at the nut but the back of the neck is shaped like a rectangle with rounded off edges. The neck has a solid but chunky feel. The only thing i don't like about the bass is the pickup placement. I think the bridge pickup was mounted too close to the bridge and the bass pickup was too far from the bridge. I would love to put a passive bartolini musicman pickup between the two existing hi-a (early bartolini) pickups but the bass is much too rare to modify so i won't change it. Take care, joe cox.
